What Is MeraHaq — And Why We Built It
MeraHaq (मेरा हक़ — meaning "my right" or "what is mine by right") is a free citizen information platform built to help every Indian access the government schemes, legal protections, and constitutional rights they are already entitled to — but often don't know about or can't navigate to claim.
India has over 500 central and state government welfare schemes covering health insurance, direct cash transfers, free housing, crop insurance, scholarships, food security, and more. The average eligible Indian family claims fewer than 2–3 of the schemes they qualify for. The rest — worth tens of thousands of rupees per year — go unclaimed, not because of ineligibility, but because of awareness gaps and bureaucratic complexity.
MeraHaq exists to close that gap. We explain every major scheme in plain language — who qualifies, how to apply step by step, what documents to carry, what to do when something goes wrong, and which official helplines to call. All information is sourced from official .gov.in government portals and verified before publication.
What MeraHaq Covers
Our guides cover India's most important government schemes and citizen rights across six categories:

Our Editorial Approach
Every guide on MeraHaq is researched from primary government sources — ministry notifications, official portals, RTI responses, and NIC (National Informatics Centre) databases. We do not copy or paraphrase other websites. Our content is original, written in plain English and Hindi, and verified for accuracy before publication.
We update our guides when scheme rules change — installment dates, eligibility criteria, helpline numbers. Each guide shows its last verified date. If you find outdated information, contact us and we update within 48 hours.
MeraHaq is completely free, has no registration wall, collects no personal data, and is not affiliated with any government body, political party, or commercial organisation. We are funded solely by non-intrusive advertising. Your rights and entitlements information will always be free.
