Two Types of PMAY
Who is Eligible?
PMAY Gramin (Rural):
- Families listed in SECC 2011 who are houseless or living in 0 or 1 room kutcha house
- SC/ST families, minorities, freed bonded labourers, widows, disabled — given priority
- Must not have already received housing assistance from any government scheme
PMAY Urban:
- EWS: Annual family income up to ₹3 lakh
- LIG: Annual family income ₹3–6 lakh
- MIG-I: Annual family income ₹6–12 lakh
- MIG-II: Annual family income ₹12–18 lakh
- Family must not own a pucca house anywhere in India
- For EWS/LIG: House must be in woman's name or co-owned with woman
❌ Not eligible if you or any family member already owns a pucca (permanent) house anywhere in India, or has previously benefited from any central/state government housing scheme.
How to Apply — PMAY Gramin
- Check if your name is in the SECC 2011 awaiting list
Visit pmayg.nic.in → "Stakeholders" → "IAY/PMAYG Beneficiary" → Search by registration number or your state/district/village list. - If your name is present — contact your Gram Panchayat
The Gram Panchayat selects beneficiaries from the list. Ensure your name hasn't been wrongly skipped. - If your name is missing — apply through Gram Sabha
Attend your Gram Sabha meeting and request to be added to the waitlist. Bring proof of kutcha house (photos, documents). - Complete Awaas+ Survey
A government field worker will survey your house. Cooperate fully and ensure all details are correct. - Receive grant in 3 instalments
₹40,000 to start construction → ₹60,000 at lintel level → ₹20,000 on completion. Paid directly to your bank account.
How to Apply — PMAY Urban
- Go to pmaymis.gov.in
Click "Citizen Assessment" → select the appropriate category (Slum Dweller / Other 3 Components). - Enter your Aadhaar number
Your name and details will be auto-filled from Aadhaar. - Fill in the application form
Provide family income details, bank account, current address, and details about current housing. - Submit and note your Application ID
Track status at pmaymis.gov.in using your application ID. - For Credit Linked Subsidy (CLSS)
Apply for a home loan from any bank/HFC. The bank will apply for the subsidy on your behalf. Subsidy is credited to your loan account, reducing EMI.
✅ You can also apply at any Common Service Centre (CSC) or through your Urban Local Body (ULB/Municipality) office. They will assist you free of charge.

- PMAY Gramin: Visit pmayg.nic.in → "Awaassoft" → "Report" → "Beneficiary Details for verification" → enter your registration number
- PMAY Urban: Visit pmaymis.gov.in → "Citizen Assessment" → "Track Your Assessment Status" → enter application ID or Aadhaar/mobile number
